I read the strangest rumor going around the internet. It claimed that Nightwing, aka Dick Grayson, was raped by Tarantula. No, I don’t mean he was raped by a giant spider, but some vigilante chick named Catalina Flores. After a little research, I discovered that the incident in question came from Nightwing 93. Once my hands were on the issue, I was able to clear up the question: was Nightwing raped?
I suppose the answer is an implied yes, but I have to tell you: I wouldn’t have perceived this as being a rape if no one had pointed it out to me. The short version is that Tarantula shoots someone dead in order to protect Nightwing. When Nightwing freaks out and has a mental breakdown, Tarantula guides him to the ground and she gets on top of him. We don’t see either one undress or anything… so whatever happened next is left to your imagination.
This was not even the first time something like this had happened to Dick Grayson. It was revealed that Mirage raped Nightwing in Team Titans issue 2.
Because of what I just discussed, Nightwing 93 is somewhat of a collector’s item. It’s often sought after, so if you come across it, you might want to pick it up (Affiliate Link).
